The alpine pasture Winklmoosalm nearby Reit im Winkl is a favourite family skiing location for alpine skiing and for cross country skiing as well. Due to the fact that the Olympic games winner Rosi Mittermaier was born there,  the Winklmoosalm has become a worldwide known place. In summer the spacious alpine pasture attracts hikers and bikers. In the Kletterwald (climbing forest)  nearby Reit im Winkl you can get high up to the crowns. Kids, adults and all climbing enthusiasts can go to their limits there. In the gorge of the Hausbach waterfalls is Germanys first TÜV certified fixed rope route. The length of the route is 400 metres with difficulties rated as B and C (moderate to challengeing) . The road Maria Hellwig-Weg reminds of the queen of yodeling Maria Hellwig, to whom the crown of folk music has been awarded. Maria’s restaurant and café Zum Kuhstall remains a legendary location up till today. Reit im Winkl is the destination of the yearly Chiemgau Team Trophy cross country skiing contest which starts in Inzell.
